Miner Wars Explained: How GoMining's Bonus Game Works
On top of daily passive mining rewards, GoMining runs a competitive bonus game called Miner Wars. Here's what it is, how it works, and whether it's worth your time.
What is Miner Wars?
Miner Wars is GoMining's in-platform competitive event where players use their virtual miner NFTs to battle other miners for extra Bitcoin rewards, on top of the regular daily passive mining income your fleet already earns. It's effectively a gamified layer sitting on top of the core mining mechanic — your existing hashrate and efficiency stats carry over into battles.
Unlike your baseline daily payouts (which are purely a function of hashrate share and maintenance fees), Miner Wars rewards are tied to performance in time-limited matches, so there's an element of strategy and timing involved.
How matchmaking works
Players are grouped into battles based on comparable hashrate and miner strength, so you're generally matched against opponents in a similar weight class rather than facing fleets wildly larger than yours. This keeps the format accessible whether you're running a single starter miner or a large multi-miner fleet.
Each war runs over a set period, after which results are tallied and rewards distributed based on your fleet's performance relative to your matched opponents.
Why GoMining added a competitive layer
Passive mining alone is, by design, a "set it and forget it" experience — which is exactly what makes it appealing for long-term BTC accumulation, but it doesn't give users much reason to check in regularly. Miner Wars adds a recurring, skill/timing-based reason to engage with the platform beyond just watching a dashboard tick up, while still being entirely optional.
Do you have to participate?
No. Miner Wars is an optional bonus layer — your daily passive BTC income from your miner fleet continues regardless of whether you participate in battles. If you'd rather treat GoMining purely as a hands-off accumulation tool, you can safely ignore Miner Wars entirely and it won't affect your baseline earnings.
Is it worth participating in?
If you're already checking your GoMining dashboard periodically, Miner Wars is a low-effort way to potentially pick up extra BTC on top of your regular payouts, with no additional capital required — it uses the fleet you already own. It won't move the needle dramatically compared to your core hashrate earnings, but as a bonus mechanic layered on top of mining you're already doing, there's little downside to trying it.
