How to Get Started with Binance
Binance has the widest range of coins and trading pairs of any major exchange. Here's how to set up your account properly and avoid common beginner mistakes.
Before you start
Have a government ID ready, plus a phone number and either a bank account or existing crypto to deposit. Binance's sheer size means verification queues and support response times can vary, so plan a little patience into your first setup.
Step 1: Create your account
Sign up with your email or phone number. Use a unique, strong password and avoid reusing credentials from other platforms.
Step 2: Complete identity verification
Submit a government-issued ID and a selfie for facial verification. Basic verification unlocks fiat deposits and higher withdrawal limits; it's usually processed within minutes to a few hours.
Step 3: Fund your account
You can deposit crypto directly from another wallet or exchange, or buy crypto with a card or bank transfer. Card purchases are fastest but carry higher fees than bank transfers.
Step 4: Secure your account
Enable two-factor authentication using an authenticator app rather than SMS, which is vulnerable to SIM-swap attacks. Consider also setting up anti-phishing codes, which Binance includes in all official emails to help you spot fakes.
Step 5: Make your first trade
For simplicity, use the "Convert" feature to swap one asset for another at a quoted rate with no order book required. Once comfortable, the Spot trading view gives you limit orders and lower fees, especially if you hold BNB to pay fees at a discount.
Explore BNB fee discounts
Holding and using BNB to pay trading fees gives a meaningful discount compared to paying in your base currency โ worth doing from day one if you plan to trade actively.
